Pillow Talk Japan

I can probably count on one hand all of the freaks of nature that I have met or know who decided that it was going to be their goal in life to read, write and speak Japanese fluently. By virtue of them doing that they pretty much guaranteed themselves a Japanese girlfriend because they completely broke down the language barrier and now that they are my age, which is no longer in their twenties, they have been able to master nuances of the Japanese language which, coupled with them being typical aggressive Americans, gives these guys a serious advantage in meeting Japanese women.

The problem with this action, of course, is that no person can learn any language with any authority unless they live and speak in the language country. In order to learn any language in serious depth one must be completely submersed in the language, hearing it and speaking it every day for months at a time before the brain starts to pick it up in any serious memory. This means that you have to go and LIVE in Japan if you want to be fluent.

For a young person (under 25 young) this should not be problem since it is not difficult for an American to get picked up by a JET program or something like that where the Japanese government will FLY YOU to Japan for a year to teach English (and of course while you are there you can learn Japanese very well).

For older people (over 25), getting up and moving to Japan is not really an option so the best they can do is take classes and practice from books or with a teacher. This can get boring after a while, especially when you realize the only reason you are learning this language is so that you can chase Japanese girls.

Truth is speaking the language helps a lot but it is not absolutely necessary for various reasons:

Reason 1: Unless you convert a girl to loving westerners the majority of Japanese girls who will talk to your FOREIGN ASS probably already have a soft spot for westerners and do speak a little English, so if she likes you because you are western she will also go through pains to learn English…so why bother speaking Japanese?

Reason 2: Speaking some Japanese, without being fluent leads some Japanese (older jaded ones) to believe that you are a “Japanese Chaser” or a nerd. So if you speak some Japanese “DO NOT GO UP TO JAPANESE GIRLS SHOWING OFF” because if you have no reason to speak Japanese then they view you as some kind of freak who loves Japanese girls. That is why, especially as you get older, You had BETTER HAVE A REASON to be speaking some Japanese (either you did business there, you do business in Japanese community). If you tell a Japanese girl that you speak Japanese because you had a Japanese girlfriend then that could backfire and she, more than likely, will think you are a Japan freak.

So the short answer, learn as much Japanese as you can BUT, if you cannot speak Japanese fluently and you meet Japanese women here in the U.S. they may look at you strangely for dawdling with their language.

But if you are a young man, and you can make it out to Japan to live, and you absolutely love Japanese girls, then LEARN IT FLUENTLY or not at all.

All the guys I know that speak Japanese fluently, ugly dudes and good looking, are NOT SINGLE, and if they are it is not for very long….I will admit I envy those dudes but I certainly do not have the motivation to learn the Japanese language fluently.

Especially since it is not necessary here in New York City, Yeeeeoooohhh!!! So many Japanese girls here, so little time, no need to speak that language!
