Ritsumeikan Uji Senior High School is seeking a full-time English literature and academic writing teacher for our junior high school and high school English immersion program. The teacher will teach 16-18 50-minute classes per week, in addition to possible homeroom duties. The teacher will work 5 days a week and approximately every other Saturday morning.
Candidates should have native-level fluency in English and have a valid university degree in English Literature, Comparative Literature, Creative Writing or a closely related discipline. Candidates should also possess TOEFL/ TESL certification or be on course to complete such certification by contract start date. Candidates with at least two years of junior high school or high school experience are preferred, but we will consider teachers with less experience who have a strong desire to improve as teachers.
The position is full-time and is renewable for up to three years. Contract start date is April 1, 2010. Salary is 4.2 million in the first year plus transportation and research allowance. Health insurance and private school employment insurance are also paid. The salary increases each year up to three years pending contract renewal.
